What is Texas Pride Youth League?
Beginners are welcome with all League programs! Basic Fundamentals to Advanced Skills will be taught throughout the season. League sessions occur weekly on Sunday or Saturday between teams created within the age group. League is available for athletes from pre-k through High School. Players are split into teams for the season, each session includes an in-house game & practice. Requests for teammates can only be made for league athletes.
What Equipment do I need?

No, we require you to bring your own stick for Youth League or Travel Teams. You can buy one in our in house shop, Pride Field Hockey Shop.

What Equipment do I need?
- Stick, Mouth Guard, Shin Guards, Sneakers or Court Shoes, Water bottle (Please do not wear cleats or turf shoes)

Where do I buy Shinguards/ Mouth Guard?
- You can buy them at our inhouse shop Pride Field Hockey Shop. You can check them out at pridefieldhockeyshop.com
What is the difference between Youth League & Travel Teams?
- Youth leagues practice once per week and do not have the option travel to tournaments. Travel teams are a higher commitment with 2-3 practice per week and out of state tournaments they can participate in.
- U14 Travel Teams practice three times a week August - June. They have one mandatory travel tournament a season. The other tournaments are opt in.
- U16 + U19 Travel Teams practice three times a week from November - June. From August - early November (during school season), U16 + U19 travel teams train as teams on Sundays and have optional Hitting and Stick Skills sessions on Tuesday and Thursday. Both teams have mandatory travel tournaments each season.
Can I transfer my League registration to Travel Teams & vice versa?
- You can transfer your registration from League to Travel Teams prior to the start of season if their respective age division is not full. Registration can be transferred from Travel Teams into League, but the difference in cost will only be refunded if the transfer request is made prior to the refund deadline as outlined in our refund policy.
Can my child be on the same team as their friends?
- Yes, requests for teammates can only be made for League athletes. We do not honor friend requests for travel teams as teams are skill based.
What are Texas Pride Annual Teams?
- U12 Annual Teams covers Fall, Winter, and Spring registration for the year and locks in your spot for the whole year. Annual team payments is a monthly charge and includes hitting and stick skill sessions for each season.
- U14 - U19 Annual Teams is an August - July membership that locks in your spot for the year. Annual team payments is a monthly charge and includes hitting and stick skill sessions for each season.
Does my child need to attend all Practices if I am joining Texas Pride Travel Teams?
- Youth travel players must attend both practices a week, hitting and stick skill sessions are option.
- Yes. U14, U16 and U19 players are expected to attend all practices. Hitting an Stick skills sessions are optional.
Does my child need to attend tournaments if I am joining Texas Pride Travel Teams?
- Youth travel players have the option to opt out of tournaments. However, they will default to a bottom team not attending the tournament if they say they opt out
- U14 - U19 Travel teams has a mandatory travel tournament each season. Many times more than one tournament per season for U16 and U19 travel teams.
Do I have to register BEFORE tryouts?
- Yes, registration is required prior to attending a Texas Pride try out. Tryouts are used to determine team placement. (answer for both age groups)
How does Texas Pride make teams?
- Youth travel teams are created based on skill level and experience, we do not honor friend request at our travel level
- U14 - U19 travel teams are created based on skill level and experience.
Do I need to Order a Uniform/ Penny and How do I do so?
- Players must order a uniform. Once a uniform is ordered they will be assigned a jersey number and receive a practice pinnie. If you would like an additional pinnie, they can be purchased at the pride field hockey shop.
- Goalies do not need to order an under armour or harrow uniform. Goalies can order a gk jersey at the pride merchandise site found under the resources tab on the pride field hockey website. U10/U12 and under GK’s can borrow a GK jersey for tournaments
- For U12 - U19 Field player uniforms, they are ordered once a season and take about 6 weeks to arrive. If you need a one in the interim, we have spare uniforms until we place another order for the next season.
