Favorite Field Hockey Memory? Why?
  • When we qualified and got 4th at NCCs this year! We’ve worked so hard for so many years to get there and it was a pretty special last tournament.
 
What was your most exciting recruiting experience?
  • Getting an offer from Davidson! I feel in love with the campus and community from my first visit.

Why are you playing field hockey in college?
  • I obviously love the sport but more importantly the team bond and support that comes with it!

What have you been doing to prepare?
  • I’ve been doing my summer packing which involves running and lifting almost every day. Shoutout to the 300s!!!

If you could give one piece of advice to younger girls who want to play field hockey in college, what would it be?
  • Don’t put too much pressure on yourself!! Everything will work out in the end as long as you stay positive.

Who was the most influential person in high school?
  • I don’t think I had just one influential person, but rather my entire team!

​Favorite post practice/ game snack?
  • Pretzels with Nutella and fruit snacks!

What pre game rituals do you use to hype yourself up before a game?
  • Jamming out and singing in the van or Adam’s SUV!!

What made you want to be a college field hockey player?
  • I always knew I wanted to play a sport in college! Even though it was gymnastics at first, when I switched to field hockey I knew I wanted to continue playing as long as I could. I had also heard positive experiences from girls older than me.

What was one of the toughest experiences?
  • Probably that one practice that was Festival prep, maybe 2 years ago. I remember it was a stick skills and running on the baseball field at Kinkaid. We ran what felt like forever but it ended up paying off because we won the tournament!! Another tough experience in general was our team not qualifying for NCCs a few years in a row.

Year you began playing field hockey? How?
  • I signed up for a summer camp in 6th grade! One of my friends convinced me to go with her so I did and I fell in love with field hockey!

2020 Goalies​ (Amelia, Annabel & Sofia)
  • Our goalies for 2020 are very special. We have three of them going off to college this fall who have trained together consistently for three years.  While they have always been competition for each other, they have taught each other so many things.  They've changed coaches many times going from super structured coaching to lax individualized coaching and I've picked up the pieces in between.  From all of the change, each of them owned their development and created a learning environment with open critique and self assessment. Open critique from teammates and deliberate practice through self assessment is so hard to accept and learn as a teenager.  This training environment set a standard for our program that will last for years to come.  I will always remember this group for embracing the change and making a lasting impact on our program.  Thank you.  ​
