From Frances:
1.Favorite Field Hockey Memory? Why?
  • Our trip to Princeton and WC when I was in 8th grade. That trip was one of my favorites because that’s when I began to love field hockey even more and grew a lot closer with my teammates. We played really well on that trip and I remember having so much fun playing and spending time with teammates and coach Mike during our car rides and wawa trips.

2.What was your most exciting recruiting experience?
  • When I had my first phone call with my coach. I knew I really wanted to go to Brown and after a long recruitment process it felt like things were finally working out.

3.Why are you playing field hockey in college?
  • I’ve always loved sports and being on a team. I couldn’t imagine my life without sports which was I’m so excited to get to play my favorite sport for 4 more years.

4.What have you done this summer to prepare?
  • I’ve been doing all my runs and lifts in my packet, and also hitting and doing stick skills as much as possible.

5.If you could give one piece of advice to younger girls who want to play field hockey in college, what would it be?
  • Trust the process. Even though the recruiting process can be tough and tiring it all works out in the end. Tina is right when she says it #hardworkpaysoff

6.Who was the most influential person in high school?
  • Tina and Adam. Tina pushed me to work hard, helped me grow as a player, and truly made me fall in love with the sport. She also supported me and pushed me to trust the process during recruiting and I’m so glad she did. Adam was always there to answer my questions to help me improve and always made indoor season more fun.

7.Favorite post practice/ game snack?
  • A sunrise sunset from tropical smoothie

8.What pre game rituals do you use to hype yourself up before a game?
  • Dancing and singing along to good music with my teammates

9.What made you want to be a college field hockey player?
  • I love this sport and the friends/teammates I’ve made and gotten to play with throughout the years. I’m also excited to keep challenging myself and playing at the next level is the best way to do so.

10.What was one of the toughest experiences?
  • My recruiting process was a lot longer than I wanted it to be. My entire summer going into junior year was filled with non stop field hockey and I still had no idea where I wanted to go. It was hard not to lose hope and want to give up, but in the end I’m so glad I stuck with it.

11.Year you began playing field hockey? How?
  • 7th grade

From Tina:
Favorite Frances Moment (old) / why?:
  • Frances started a little later than some of the other girls and worked her way onto the Red team.  One of the most outstanding things about Frances when she first started was her fearlessness in the circle.  We had these girls taking rocket shots at goal and Fran just stood there tipping and rebounding that ball around the GK. She always has been completely fearless in front of the cage and that always helped her stand out.

Favorite Frances moment (new)/ why?
  • Over the past few years, Frances grew from a really effective niche player to one of our stronger forwards.  Lots of hours of extra hitting and stick skills sessions, and Frances grew into a strong forward who was capable of building the play throughout the field as well as creating opportunities inside the circle. Her tenacity and fearlessness in the circle and with pressing made her such a major part of the superstar teams success over the past few years.

Story we will forever tell about Frances:
  • Frances managed to play three varsity sports all through high school while playing with us. That is quite a feat considering the commitment required to play varsity for all three seasons while getting good grades.  Fran found a way to do it all and I rarely heard from her about it. She rarely seemed stressed due to the conflicts and workload. It is very impressive when a player can manage all of that at the same time and be successful on all fronts.

Favorite Frances recruiting moment/ why?
  • As Fran mentioned, the recruiting process was brutal for her. It was very long and she worked extremely hard through the process never giving up hope.  When she finally received her offer from Brown at the end of her junior year, it was so gratifying just based on how hard Fran had worked for it over the past year.

First memory of Frances / why?
  • Frances was Cate's younger sister in the beginning. Cate had played with us for years and Fran just decided to start playing with us. I believe she was a soccer player for a while and started with us in middle school.  She was a true beginner when she started and originally was placed on some of our lower teams. Frances is such a hard worker with everything she does, and she worked her way up to our top team pretty quickly finding her niche as one of our forwards.
