From Sloan:
Favorite Field Hockey Memory? Why?
  • My favorite field hockey memory is beating WC Eagles at Disney in shootouts. Nobody ever thought that a team from Texas would ever beat one of the most well-known and dominant clubs in Pennsylvania. Winning Disney for the first time ever showed how all of our hard work was paying off.

What was your most exciting recruiting experience?
  • One of the most exciting parts of my recruiting experience was the first time I learned that UVA had interest in me. They had come to my first game at Festival and after that game, they went up to Adam and asked about me and about the rest of my schedule. It was soon after festival that I received my offer from UVA.

Why are you playing field hockey in college?
  • I am playing field hockey in college because it has been such an integral part of my life for years and I honestly cannot imagine my life without it. I am so excited to take my game to the next level!

What have you been doing to prepare?
  • I attended the Nexus Championship and the National Club Championship as well as attending Pride practices and doing my UVA run packet.

If you could give one piece of advice to younger girls who want to play field hockey in college, what would it be?
  • I would tell them to create goals for themselves as a player and teammate and to work as hard as possible whether it be practice, stick skill sessions, camps, privates, etc to accomplish them. Also, try to not get too stressed and overwhelmed with the recruiting process because everything will work out, and just remember to enjoy it and have fun.

Who was the most influential person in high school?
  • Tina 100%! She constantly pushes me to be the best player I can be everyday and has always been there for me during my many ups and downs.

Favorite post practice/ game snack?
  • Smoothie

What pre game rituals do you use to hype yourself up before a game?
  • Listening to Big Booty Remix specifically the 2015 version

What made you want to be a college field hockey player?
  • Growing up I played every possible sport you could think of so playing a sport in college was always something I dreamed of. It wasn't until I started playing Pride that I realized field hockey was the one I wanted to play. Watching older girls play and seeing the pace of the game and all the different skills they could do made me want to take my game to the next level.

What was one of the toughest experiences?
  • I experienced a lot of hamstring and lower back issues throughout middle school and the beginning of high school that was really challenging to deal with and treat. I had to miss some high school games and take time off of practice and for me missing anything field hockey related was my least favorite thing ever. It took a lot of treatment and strengthening to help overcome this injury.

Year you began playing field hockey? How?
  • I started playing field hockey in the middle of sixth grade because my older sister was also playing Pride.
From Tina:
Favorite Sloan Moment (old) / why?:
  • I remember Sloan's first spring as a superstar. She did really well that Fall on the U16 team and committed to UVA soon after. We all knew she had potential, but that winter/ spring at Disney and Pa/NJ Play Day was when we really saw what Sloan was capable of. She was developing into the impressive and dominant player she is today. She was also starting to become the leader she is today.

Favorite Sloan moment (new)/ why?
  • In December 2021, we had a situation where our Ithaca NITQ was canceled 3 days before the event. We had a few options, so I let Sloan and some other seniors decide what option to choose. The easy route was to not go and take our automatic bid. The hard route was to change all of our travel plans and go to a different state to qualify at a harder qualifier.  They wanted 1st place at NITQ to play in Pool A at NIT. So..her and the other seniors decided to go.  It's challenging to choose the hard route, but I was very proud of her and the others for choosing the hard route.  It was the right choice in the end.

Story we will forever tell about Sloan:
  • In the summer of 2021, Sloan really wanted to make Rise JNC.  She had developed so much during the pandemic and she had this lofty goal. She worked extremely hard that spring and summer to continue developing herself to get there. Even through the fall of 2021, she wanted to be an All American and worked very hard to score as many goals as she did. Sloan is a very determined young woman who, when she sets her mind to something, always finds a way to accomplish it.

Favorite Sloan recruiting moment/ why?
  • When I first met with Sloan, she told me she wanted to go to UVA.  So when Michele called that December expressing interest in Sloan, it made me so happy for her. It was early as it was December of her Freshmen year, but that didn't matter. She wanted to go there and that was it. I'm so excited for Sloan to play at UVA this Fall and get exactly what she wanted.

First memory of Sloan / why?
  • Sloan is the youngest of three sisters that we have worked with. Her older sister Ellie was a part of some of our first programs back in 2013. I remember when I first started working with Sloan, it was evident she was extremely athletic and had a lot of potential. I have very much enjoyed working with the Davidson family over the past decade. We will miss them a lot.
