From Lizzy:
1.Favorite field hockey memory? Why?

My favorite field hockey memory is when EHS tied SJS my freshmen year in a counter game, only to also tie overtime and the first round of strokes. We won in the second round of strokes with my stroke (it was against Kelsey lol).

2.What was your most exciting recruiting experience?
Getting an offer to play for Columbia!

3.Why are you playing field hockey in college?
I want to continue playing the sport I love while getting an amazing education.

4.What have you done this summer to prepare?
I’ve been sticking to my summer packet and playing field hockey!

5.If you could give one piece of advice to younger girls who want to play field hockey in college, what would it be?
Don’t give up!!! Go to as many camps as possible and put yourself out there with as many coaches and schools as possible.

6.Who was the most influential person in high school
Megyn Kelly

7.Favorite post practice/game snack?
Chipotle

8.What pre game rituals do you use to hype yourself up before a game?
Music music music!

9.What made you want to be a college field hockey player?
I wanted to challenge myself and see if I could actually achieve playing the sport I love at that high of a level.

10.What was one of the toughest experiences?
Fall 2015 EHS Field hockey with Coach Reichard.

11.Year you began playing field hockey? How?
6th grade. My mom sent me to all of the field hockey camps at St. John’s because she played in college and wanted me to as well.
From Tina:
Favorite Lizzy moment (old)/ why?

  • First Indoor Tournament in Louisville. I know the girls about three weeks at this point. We have a 7am game (of course), and I start Lizzy.  While she’s playing, she’s a little off, but I don’t know her well enough yet to know why she’s off.  Eventually, I ask her why she keeps mis-receiving the ball, she then looks at me and says:  “I forgot to put my contacts in” - so she couldn’t’ see!!!  In addition, she forgot her blue socks, so we had Mrs. Manela go to Target and buy her some navy blue trouser socks :)
  • We were at Disney in 2013.  She was playing either Left mid of left forward. I only happen to remember her position because she was on the opposite side of the field from me.  This girl she was playing against kept lifting the ball into her on the restarts. So…after a while, the girl nailed Lizzy in the hand with a ball that was about thigh height.  Lizzy threw her stick on the ground ,and started angrily walking at the girl yelling “I swear to god….” You had to be there - it was classic :)
Favorite Lizzy moment (new)/ why?
  • Probably our last game at NCC’s.  Lizzy is a true original Texas Pride girl even from the Gateway Southwest years.  She’s seen so many players and friends come and go during that time, coaching changes, school changes, development of the sport….and she made it…all the way through. She even accomplished her goal.  I’m so proud of Lizzy, and cannot wait to follow her career at Columbia.
Story we will forever tell about Lizzy:
  • We will always talk about her persistence and determination to be recruited. No one hit the recruiting trail harder than Lizzy and persisted as long as she did. Truly an example of hard work pays off because all of her hard work actually did.
  • Stars and Stripes. Nothing more. Lizzy was a part of both teams.
  • Her awesome recruiting videos with the great music (300 Orchestras)  It’s this intense music and that day we were filming, it was raining, so the film is pretty dark. It’s a really cool video.
  • Most incredible and developed reverse skills. When I first came to Texas Pride, Lizzy could reverse the ball to anyone anywhere on the field.  She later developed so many other incredible skills, but she always had incredible reverse skills.
Favorite Lizzy recruiting moment/ why?
  • The time she called me and told me she committed. Lizzy’s recruiting process was very long and extremely drawn out, but she never gave up. From the beginning, she told me that her dream school was Columbia. When she called me and told me she received an offer from Columbia, I started crying.  It was one of the best moments of that entire year.  I was so excited for her because all of her hard work finally paid off.
First memory of Lizzy:
  • My first memory of Lizzy is from my first Texas Pride practice. I just drove 24 hours from VA to Houston, and had an 8am practice on a Saturday morning after New Years. Only two people showed up - one of them was Lizzy.  She was so little, but she listened to every single thing I said.  We worked pretty hard for 90 minutes, and she just seemed like such a sponge from the beginning.  It was very evident, she was going to one day be a great player.
